If you are interested in enrolling in the SCMP designation program and have acquired some supply chain management content knowledge through SMT Diploma program, a full-time Canadian post-secondary degree program or an equivalent foreign post-secondary degree program,  you may apply for advanced standing.

Advanced Standing for SMT Graduates

Completion of the SMT Diploma program plus the three courses (Case Study Report Writing, Supply Chain Operations Workflow, Principles of Financial Management) will allow the student to enrol in the SCMP Designation Program with exemptions. Below are the list of exempted modules and workshops in the SCMP program:

  • Module 1: Supply Chain Management
  • Module 3: Logistics and Transportation
  • Workshop 2: Negotiation Skills
  • Workshop 3: Communication and Relational Skills
  • Workshop 4: Competitve Bidding, Contract Preparation and Contract Management

Students are still required to meet the business prerequisites for entry to the SCMP Designation Program. The SMT Diploma is not a business diploma and does not qualify as the prerequisite.

Advanced Standing through Educational Partners

SCMA Alberta has partnered with Athabasca University, Mount Royal University, MacEwan University, University of Alberta and SAIT to have an Advanced Standing agreement for SCMP Designation Program. Those who have completed the specific programs listed below, within the last five(5) years and achieved a grade B or higher are eligible to apply for advanced standing. 

Athabasca University

For individuals who have successfully completed the Athabasca University Online MBA for Executives program, SCMA will grant advanced standing within the SCMP program. 

Below are the five components of the SCMP program which are eligible for exemption: 

  • Module 4 : Operations and Process Management
  • Module 5 : Knowledge Management
  • Workshop 1 : Leadership and Professionalism
  • Workshop 3 : Communications and Relational Skills
  • Workshop 6 : Ethical Behaviour and Social Responsibility

MacEwan University

For individuals who have successfully completed the MacEwan University Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Supply Chain Management Co-op Major) , SCMA will grant advanced standing within the SCMP program.

Below are the five components of the SCMP program which are eligible for exemption: 

  • Module 1 : Supply Chain Management
  • Module 2 : Procurement and Supply Management
  • Module 4 : Operations and Process Management
  • Module 5 – Knowledge Management
  • Workshop 2 : Negotiation Skills*

Note: *Negotiation Skills workshop is exempted only if it is completed as a part of Bachelor of Commerce Supply Chain Management Co-op Major

Mount Royal University 

For individuals who have successfully completed the Mount Royal University programs listed below, SCMA will grant advanced standing within the SCMP program. 

1. Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (Supply Chain Management Minor)

Below are the six components of the SCMP program which are eligible for exemption:

  • Module 1 : Supply Chain Management
  • Module 3 : Logistics and Transportation
  • Module 4 : Operations and Process Management
  • Module 5 : Knowledge Management 
  • Workshop 2 : Negotiation Skills
  • Workshop 3 : Communication and Relational Skills**

Note: **Communication and Relational Skills workshop is exempted only if it was completed as a part of Bachelor of Business Administration, Supply Chain Management Minor

2. Advanced Supply Chain Management Extension Certificate

Below are the three components of the SCMP program which are eligible for exemption:

  • Module 3 : Logistics and Transportation
  • Module 5 : Knowledge Management 
  • Workshop 2 : Negotiation Skills

3. Supply Chain Management Extension Certificate

Below is the only component of the SCMP program which is eligible for exemption:

  • Workshop 2 : Negotiation Skills

University of Alberta

For individuals who have successfully completed the University of Alberta programs listed below, SCMA will grant advanced standing within the SCMP program.

1. Master of Business Administration Commerce (MBA) Degree (Supply Chain Major)

Below are the five components of the SCMP program which are eligible for exemption:

  • Module 1 : Supply Chain Management
  • Module 2 : Procurement and Supply Management
  • Module 4 : Operations and Process Management
  • Workshop 1 : Leadership and Professionalism
  • Workshop 6 : Ethical Behaviour and Social Responsibility

2. Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Operations Management Major)

Below are the three components of the SCMP program which are eligible for exemption:

  • Module 1 : Supply Chain Management

SAIT Polytechnic, School of Business 

For individuals who have successfully completed the SAIT Polytechnic, School of Business Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (Supply Chain Major) program, SCMA will grant advanced standing within the SCMP program.

Below are the four components of the SCMP program which are eligible for exemption:

  • Module 1 : Supply Chain Management
  • Module 2 : Procurement and Supply Management
  • Module 3 : Logistics and Transportation
  • Module 4 : Operations and Process Management
