In post-secondary institutions where there is an existing student-led club, student liaisons serve as on-campus representatives of the SCMA. They work to enhance awareness of the club and to promote membership.


  • Enrolled in full-time studies in a college or university program and specializing (or intending to specialize) in supply chain 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Hold Student Affiliate status in SCMA

Student Liaison benefits:

For the student body:

  • Guarantee to have a speaker or representatives who will participate in at least one on-campus event per academic year (at the discretion of the institute.)
  • Networking opportunities 
  • Access to the SCMA National Scholarship program 
  • Access to local SCMA events at a preferred rate 
  • Access to SCMA Resource Centre (which provides industry and career planning resources)

For the Liaison person:

  • Recognition on SCMA Website listing of Student Leaders; experience  noted on personal resume 
  • Free registration for regional conference (where available; travel and accommodation not included) or for a local SCMA event (at the discretion of the Institute). 
  • Opportunity to influence SCMA Student Engagement Program 
  • Opportunity to network with student leaders from other schools engaged in the program

Student Liaison responsibilities:

  • Liaise with SCMA Institute to obtain information on local events of interest to students and circulate that information to supply chain 
  • Organize at least one on-campus event (speaker(s) from SCMA); engage with SCMA regarding campus career fairs 
  • Promote purchase of Student Affiliations in SCMA 
  • Actively promote participation in the Student Case Competition; provide information about entries to SCMA staff 
  • Inform student body of the availability of SCMA National Scholarships 
  • When requested, coordinate student volunteers to support Institute or national programs held locally (giving priority to SCMA Student Affiliates) 
  • Communicate relevant updates from SCMA National and local Institute to supply chain students through email and by posting notices 
  • Ensure SCMA handouts are available at all events organized by the Student Association 
  • Submit the completed SCMA Student Club Liaison Activity Reports Form for each term (must be received by the local Institute contact by January 15 and April 30) 
  • Ensure that the SCMA Club Liaison position is included in the group’s planning/elections for the next year. 
  • Participate in the SCMA Student Club Liaison/Representative conference call each term
