Hundreds of supply chain managers descended upon Niagara Falls, Ontario, June 15-17, to learn about new developments in the field, enhance their knowledge of supply chain best practices, and to meet supply chain leaders from across Canada.
The conference kicked off at Edgewaters, overlooking the world famous Niagara Falls, where delegates were treated to a delicious buffet of local cuisine and entertained by the energetic local band The Madhatters who had delegates up on their feet and on the dance floor. The Falls were also lit up in SCMA colours during the evening as a special surprise treat for all.
Delegates were treated to a lineup of amazing keynote speakers. Bob Gray provided an unforgettable performance on improving one’s memory abilities. Linda Edgecombe addressed the craziness of modern life and provided guidance on how to balance one’s work and personal life. Economist Peter Hall provided expert commentary during his keynote address on the state of the economy and his predictions on the trends and factors that will shape the Canadian and international markets over the upcoming year. Finally, delegates heard from the man who has directly touch most of their lives, the final keynote address was presented by Ron Buist who is best known as the inventor of the “Roll up the rim to win” contest at Tim Hortons.
The event also included educational sessions on a wide range of supply chain and related topics such as: reverse logistics, supply chain leadership, public procurement, business communication, omni-channel, contractor management, e-bidding, sustainability, case studies, and more.
SCMA would like to thank all our attendees and volunteers who made our event a smashing success. A special thank you to the 2016 SCMA National Conference Committee (James Berg, CSCMP; Richard Hampton, CSCMP; Costatine (Gus) Karouzakis, CSCMP; Sherry Marr, and Nicole Ruttan-Sims) the event could not have happened without their tireless efforts.
