First off, I would like to welcome you to the Supply Chain Management Association Newfoundland & Labrador’s website. This site contains much needed information for both current and prospective members and is updated regularly so please check back often to keep abreast of current educational offerings, events, and important association news.

With a provincial economy that is growing faster than the national average it should come as no surprise that SCMA NL is growing as well. With approximately 100 members, and about one half of them being SCMP (very impressive statistic) we have seen significant growth in what is a small market, compared to other jurisdictions in Canada. This is great news for our Institute, SCMA National, and our local members. Locally, I would say “the more the merrier” as our increased membership leads to, among other things, increases in networking opportunities, greater awareness of the supply chain field of work, and the opportunity for us to provide quality educational offerings to meet the varying needs of our membership, non-members, and employers. While we have grown in recent years we cannot expect this trend to continue without the hard work and dedication of the local executive and also, more importantly, our members. The Executive makes decisions on policy and process to act in the association’s best interest but we are only ten people, a fraction of the total membership. It is through your commitment and action that we can grow even further. Some actions that members can take are to attend local and national events, promote the association and membership to employers and colleagues, and volunteer on local and national boards and committees. I know it seems to everyone that they are being pulled in a thousand different directions through commitments to family, friends, work and education but the active promotion and commitment to the SCMA NL is a great step in achieving personal and professional goals. We can have lots of enjoyment meeting those goals together!

Please feel free to contact me or any Executive member if you have any questions or concerns. Communication is encouraged and appreciated.

In closing thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as President of the SCMA NL. I know there will be challenges during the term but with a committed Executive team and an enthusiastic membership the opportunities are greater.

Sincerely,
Shauna Clark, SCMP
President SCMA NL
