20180201 Message from CEO Header 1000

The countdown to our “Ahead of the Curve” conference is underway.  With only 215 days until we gather to learn and network, SCMA AB is looking for speakers that can wow us with their knowledge and experience of emerging disruptive technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, autonomous vehicles, automation, and robotics.  I am looking forward to meeting more of our members, having some fun, and learning about the future of Supply Chain Management. See you on September 6-9 in Red Deer!

SCMA Alberta moved to their new office in August of 2017 and have taken full advantage of the new classroom for our students.   Having the classroom on site will save the Association over $50,100 in rental space costs and provide a constant and available venue. The Association is also looking at renting out the classroom when not in use, by SCMA, giving the Association another revenue stream to offset the cost of the lease. Our lease is for 10 years allowing us to lock in pricing that the Association can then rely on for budgeting.

Jan 24, 2018’s Economic Outlook Networking Dinner:   L to R - Jeremy Garton, Academic Chair for SCM, SAIT; Todd Hirsh, Alberta’s Chief Economist, ATB Financial; Janice Isberg, SCMA; Michael Magnien, (Board Member) Graham Construction; Richard Babich, (Board Member) SAIT.

SCMA Alberta is planning a membership drive during the months of March and April.   Membership in SCMA provides good value, giving members access to continual training in all critical areas of Supply Chain Management while highlighting emerging trends and practices. Membership also provides access to job postings and our annual conference each September at a reduced price.   And most importantly, membership is about being part of a community that understands the complexities of the end-to-end supply chain.

We encourage you to let your colleagues know that you are a SCMA member and to consider membership.  Tell them all the good things about membership and its low cost in return for good value. The more members we have the better the value for all.

I wonder someday if it will ever end but we are closer to Spring than we might think.   January is behind us and in about six weeks we should start to see the light as we drive to work both in the morning and at night.  There may be some birds returning and the trees will be getting ready to give us a break from white. Just hang on…won’t be long now.

Best Regards,

Janice Isberg, CEO
