Hundreds of supply chain managers descended upon Winnipeg, Manitoba to enhance their knowledge, hear from leading supply chain executives, and to meet with supply chain leaders from across Canada at the 2017 SCMA National Conference.

Canadian Museum for Human Rights

The conference kicked off at the beautiful Canadian Museum for Human Rights, where delegates were treated to a tour of the unique building and learned about the many inspiring stories of struggles, courage, and sacrifice. The night also included a delicious buffet of local cuisine and entertainment by the energetic local ensemble Danny Kramer Dance Band who had delegates up on their feet and on the dance floor. 

Earlier that morning, SCMA hosted, in partnership with Centreport Canada and North American Strategy for Competitiveness (NASCO), an intimate breakfast briefing on NAFTA. This briefing included an address by Former Premier of Manitoba and Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. Gary Doer, as well as a panel discussion where those in attendance could engage with leaders in the industry about NAFTA.

SCMA’s new Tales from the Table series at the conference was a great success. Delegates were treated to discussions and insights about the upcoming NAFTA renegotiations, how to elevate supply chain to the C-Suite, the future of supply chain, and the unique challenges of operating in a country as large and diverse as Canada. This year’s delegates were treated to SCMA’s first conference app, which provided attendees with all the conference-related information they needed in the palm of their hands. As well, delegates were able to engage and connect with each other through the app to enhance their in-person networking activities.

The event also included educational sessions on a wide range of supply chain and related topics such as: contract and category management, vendor relationships, sustainable and responsible supply chains, e-tendering, public procurement, and more. Delegates also benefited from planned networking events to meet other supply chain leaders and build their professional networks.
