Rise of the robot: The ‘technological renaissance’ automating the energy patch
Oilsands producers are transitioning to robotic and automated processes to lower operating costs. Jobs such as heavy-haul operators are one of roles that producers such as Suncor have been looking to automate. Suncor has begun piloting driverless trucks for the last two years and will decide whether to implement the autonomous system company-wide at the end of 2017.
